Obituary of Rose Rittenhouse

Rose M. Rittenhouse, 90, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
Born May 10, 1930 in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Tomcho) Skipalis. She was a lifelong resident of Nanticoke and lived on Orchard Street for the past 60 years.
She worked as a hairdresser for her dear friend, Ida Valentine at Ida’s Beauty Shop on Broad Street for twelve years as well as housekeeping in private homes for many years.
Rose was a faithful member of the Apostolic Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church, Lyndwood.
She was a devoted and warm-hearted mother, grandmother, wife, friend, and caregiver to many.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Rittenhouse, Jr. on January 5, 1997, after 44 years of marriage; her daughter Joyce Topper on February 10, 2015; son, Raymond P. Rittenhouse on March 10, 2015; and daughter Cathy Schuler on November 11, 2017. As the last member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by brothers, James “Duke” Skipalis and Anthony “Sonny” Skipalis, and a sister, Caroline Jones.
Surviving are grandchildren Edward Topper (Jennifer Simpson), Cheri Krzynefski (fiancé Robert Evans), Angela Schuler, Raymond T. Rittenhouse, and Heather Rittenhouse; sons-in-law, Gary Schuler and Edward Topper; great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 pm at Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 East Broad Street, Nanticoke.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry L. Lewis officiating.
Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
