Doris J. Kacillas, 91, formerly of Nanticoke, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 under the care of Allied Services Hospice Center, Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre. She had been a resident of Kingston Manor for the past eight years. Born April 28, 1930 in Newport Township, she was one of eleven children of the late George and Mary Schad Sager. Doris married Stanley J. Kacillas on April 28, 1951 and after a few years relocated to Southington Connecticut where Stanley found employment with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. Doris was employed in manufacturing and for many years in the women’s department with K-Mart. Following their retirement in 1981, they relocated back to live in Nanticoke. Doris was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was involved in all church activities and a member of WELCA. Her husband, Stanley passed away on October 15, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her son, Stephen Kacillas; grandson, Justin Kacillas; brothers, Robert, Earl, Oliver, Harry, Albert and Calvin Sager and sisters, Sophia Sager, Mabel Evans and Alice Stancavage. Surviving are her sons, Dennis Kacillas and wife, Maureen of Naples, FL, and David Kacillas and wife, Maureen, with whom she last resided; daughter-in-law, Mary Kacillas of Southington, CT; grandchildren, Heather, Robin and Kevin, Billy and his wife, Deidra, Steven and Shannon; her sister, Carol Donnelly and husband, Paul of Kingston and numerous nieces and nephews. A private funeral service will be held from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. Michele D. Kaufman, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Newport Cemetery, Newport Center.
