Frances “Nancy” K. Kochanski, 87, a life-long resident of Nanticoke passed away on Sunday morning, May 9, 2021, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a brief illness. Born on August 22, 1933, in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Theresa (Ekker) Piontkowski. Frances was one of eight children. She was married to Paul F. Kochanski who passed away on April 10, 1977. Her greatest joy and love in life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be forever remembered as a kind, compassionate and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Frances was treasured by all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, taking care of animals and doing crossword puzzles. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by several businesses in the area, including Penn Footwear, Alta and the Greater Nanticoke Area School District. Frances was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke, and previously, a member of St. Stanislaus Church. In addition to her parents and husband, Paul, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Valerie Kochanski who passed away on October 20, 2011; sisters, Tina Victoria and Dorothy Lubetski and brothers, Stanley, Edward, Ralph and Anthony Piontkowski. She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Burns and husband, Chris, Hunlock Creek; sons, Paul Kochanski and wife, Susan, Carlisle; and Albyn Kochanski and wife, Monica, Glen Lyon; grandchildren, Chris, Ryan, A.J., Sean and Bradley; great grandchildren, Ethan, Kendal, Kenzie, Callum and Camden; and brother, Norman Piontkowski, Nanticoke, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, primary site, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Nanticoke.
