Obituary of Sylvia Svetz

Sylvia M. (Schimmel) Svetz, 81, of Miner Avenue, Wanamie and formerly East Field Street, Nanticoke, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday afternoon, December 29, 2021. Born September 14, 1940 in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Susie (Andes) Schimmel. She graduated from Nanticoke High School and resided in Nanticoke her entire life. She married her high school sweetheart, Andrew Svetz on September 19, 1960 and shared nearly 57 years of married until his death on August 14, 2017. She had been employed at Alta Products, Hanover Township for many years and later A. Rifkin Company until retiring. Sylvia lived her life with a deep faith and love for Jesus. She was a faithful active member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, which recently became Faith Church, Nanticoke campus. She was very proud of her family and especially loved time spent with her granddaughter, Melissa and great grandson, Ayden and enjoyed attending all his sporting events. In addition to her parents and husband, Andrew, she was preceded in death by sister, Mary Ann Behm; brothers, Donald and Robert Schimmel and sister-in-law, Janet Schimmel. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Pamela Grobinski and husband, Anthony, with who she last resided; granddaughter, Melissa Hedrick; great grandson, Ayden Everett both of Nanticoke; sisters, Catherine Oates Shaffer of Seaford, DE, Shirley Schimmel of Toccoa Falls, GA; brother-in-law, Bernard Behm of Wilkes-Barre; sister-in-law, Ellen Dudick of Nanticoke as well as nieces and nephews. Sylvia’s entire family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to friend and caregiver, Jenn Josefowicz. She continues to be a blessing to our family. A MEMORIAL SERVICE SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, JANUARY 7TH AT 6 PM HAS BEEN POSTPONED AND WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT A LATER DATE.
