Obituary
Obituary of Dolores Markiewicz
Please share a memory of Dolores to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
At the beautiful age of 91, Dolores Markiewicz passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the home of her daughter in Santa Barbara, CA. Born February 9, 1930 in Nanticoke to Leo and Theresa Wasilewski, Dolores, was better known as “Tweet,” a nickname given to her at a young age by her father. While she had a variety of job titles throughout her life, none made her happier and more proud than the title of “Mom”. “Mother’s Day is my favorite holiday, because only five people in the world can truly call me Mom”, so appropriately, we will celebrate her life on Mother’s Day weekend. She was a caring, loving Gramma Tweet and affectionately called GG by her great grandchildren.
No one loved more unconditionally than she did and those who knew her were lucky to have experienced that love for so long. We invite you to order extra hot French fries, peruse the dollar store, sing “You Are My Sunshine” to someone you love, and drink an ice cold O’Douls in her memory.
She was the best friend we ever had. We will miss her always.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Markiewicz on July 30,2003; sisters, Pearl Price, Mary Sweeney, Elizabeth Zupko, Verna Wolfe, Jean Wasilewski and brother, Leon.
She is survived by her children, Becky Hankey (Dana) Santa Barbara, CA, Edwin Markiewicz (Ginny) Nanticoke, Stephen Markiewicz (Gail) Downingtown, Risë Winterhalter (Hugo) Ooltewah, TN, Joan Markiewicz, Santa Barbara, CA; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Jordan, Jonathan Hankey; E.J. And Tessa Markiewicz; Kyle and Kevin Markiewicz; Hugh, Adrienne and Megan Winterhalter; and Ryan Snyder; and her greats, Lucas Markiewicz; Ellison, Harper, and Charlie Leo; and Jack Geskermann.
