Lois E. Walting, 91, of Tilbury Terrace, West Nanticoke, PA passed away Monday, January 2, 2023. Born March 3, 1931 in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late George and Edith Meado Dzuris. Lois graduated from Nanticoke High School, Class of 1948, and continued her education receiving a Bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg State College. Early in life she taught fourth grade for several years in Long Island, NY. She married Dr. Daniel A. Walting on October 6, 1956 at St. John’s Slovak Lutheran Church, Nanticoke PA. They shared fifty years of marriage until his passing on November 11, 2006. Lois was a lifelong active member of St. John’s Slovak Lutheran Church, where she served for many years on the Church Council. She was active with the Luzerne County Dental Association Auxiliary. She was very proud and honored to serve as President of the Pennsylvania State Dental Association Auxiliary She counted many lifelong friends among her dental auxiliary associates. Lois also volunteered with Meals-On-Wheels for many years and served on the Board of Northeast Counseling Services. Lois was committed to the World Day of Prayer, a global ecumenical movement with the goal of uniting people of different faiths through prayer and understanding. Always of woman of style and elegance, she enjoyed hosting many events for friends and family alike. Her love of cooking and flair for entertaining were passed on to her children and grandchildren, In addition to her husband, Dr. Daniel Walting, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Dzuris on December 17, 2020. Surviving are her children; Lynn Brinker DMD and husband, Richard, of Mountain Top; Lauri Kapusta and husband, Gary, of Roswell, GA; Lisa Elder DDS and husband, Douglas, of Lincoln, MA; and Daniel Walting II DMD and wife, Emily, of West Nanticoke; Grandchildren, Alyson Brinker MD and wife, Cristina Resczenski; Richard Brinker Jr., Christina Kapusta and husband, Cesare Gallo; Andrew Kapusta and wife, Taylor; Garrett Kapusta, Harrison Elder and wife, Verity; Isaac, Eva, and Anya Elder, and Madeleine, Margaret, and Meredith Walting; great grandsons, Gabriel and Leonardo Gallo; a sister-in-law, Ruth Walting, of Massachusetts. Her family would especially like to thank her wonderful team of caregivers, Cathy, Jodie, Mary Ann and Jeannette for their exceptional caring and kindness. Family and friends may call for viewing and visitation hours, Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke. A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Slovak Lutheran Church, 604 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke, with Mr. Arthur Balla, lay speaker at St. John’s, officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
