Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Janet Paluck Thompson, 84, of Edison, NJ, who passed away at home early Thursday morning, March 23, 2023, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Alden Station, Pennsylvania, on March 1, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Mary (Rudowski) Paluck. Janet is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert R. Thompson, Jr.; sons Rob (Wendy) Thompson, Waxhaw, NC; Kirk (Dr. Lisa Drago) Thompson, Garnet Valley, PA; grandchildren Steven & Mary Thompson, Garnet Valley, PA; brother Gerald (Linda) Paluck, Dallas, PA; sister Nancy (Michael) Tkatch, Dallas, PA. Jan was a proud graduate of Newport Twp. High School, Class of 1956. She earned her B.S. Degree in Education from Penn State University and M.Ed. in Education from Kean College. Jan was a dedicated educator always focusing what was in the best interest of students by setting high standards and challenging students and colleagues alike. She will be missed and remembered by many lives she touched. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and colleague enjoyed traveling, especially to Bermuda, The Florida Keys, San Antonio and camping around the U.S. when the boys were young. Then, as she enjoyed retirement the family would look forward to the get-together every summer when her party planning skills shined brightly with an outstanding menu including her specialty, Conch Chowder. Jan found pleasure in reading broadly, tending to her garden & houseplants, was always ready to try new recipes, was inspired by Jimmy Buffett music, and loved home decorating. She was an ardent Penn State fan and would coach from the comfort of her living room on game day. The family would like to thank the physicians & nursing staff of Hackensack Meridian Health at JFK (Edison, NJ) and the office of Dr. Gregory Shypula for their care and compassion during her illness. Family and friends may call 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street Nanticoke, PA 18634. Parastas service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. by His Eminence Archbishop Melchisdeck. Private interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township, PA.
