Mary Ann Figlerski, 88, of Nanticoke, passed into eternal rest Thursday, June 29, 2023 at home. Born and raised in Fairmount Springs, she was a daughter of the late John and Julia Marko Derkach. Mary graduated from Huntington Mill High School in 1953. She married Carl (Nash) Figlerski on November 23, 1957 and shared sixty-one years of marriage until his passing on April 22, 2019. Early in life, Mary was employed at Penn Footwear (where she met her husband Carl) and Luzerne Outerwear, before starting a long career as a Nurse’s Aide for over thirty years. She worked at the former Nanticoke State General Hospital for twenty- five years and finished retiring from White Haven State Center. She was a tender guardian to those in her care. Mary was a devout catholic, being a member of Holy Trinity Church, currently St. Faustina Parish. She was a dedicated gardener and an outstanding cook, a family favorite, her pigs in the blanket. She was a flea market enthusiast, and never passed up a chance to shop at Boscov’s to buy for her family. Her constant companions, along with her family, were her cats and dogs. She loved her animals, as they did her. She never forgot to feed the squirrels and birds as well. She enjoyed country music, but loved to polka to Stanky & The Coalminers. Mary was preceded in death by eight siblings. Mary’s true fortune was knowing her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Her lifelong investment was her family, her wealth being all the love surrounding her. Surviving are her children; Michael Figlerski and partner Cheryl Middaugh; Susan Kirkpatrick; Kenneth Figlerski and wife, Gale; Linda Wolfinger and husband, Edward; and Lisa Walters and husband, Donald; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Perkowski; and many nieces and nephews. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke. There will be no public viewing or calling hours.
