Gussie F. Veach, 89, of Hartselle, Alabama, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023. She was being cared for by her granddaughter, Rebekah Dietterick, in Nanticoke since January. Born April 10, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Frances Riefenburg Lewis. Gussie resided in Poughkeepsie until moving to Hartselle, Alabama where she lived for thirty years. She was employed as an aide in physical rehabilitation (now Abilities First), and attended Faith Assembly of God in Hartselle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Veach on May 24, 2001; a daughter, Nancy Veach; as well as three siblings. Surviving are her children; daughters, Sharon Speed (Chris); Sandra Lee (Joseph); Earl Veach Jr. (Debbie); Gussie Odell (Stephen); Richard Veach; Carl Veach (Patty), Tammy Riefenburg (Billy); and Lisa Veach (Mike); Nancy’s fiancé, Byron; as well as several grandchildren, including Rebekah Dietterick and her husband, Rich, with whom she resided in Nanticoke; several great, and great- great grandchildren; and ten siblings. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the Peck Funeral Home chapel, 1600 Highway 31 SW, Hartselle, Alabama. Friends may call for viewing and visitation on Thursday from noon until the time of the service. She will be laid to in the Hartselle City Cemetery. Local arrangements are in the care of Dinelli Family Funeral Home, Nanticoke.
