Arden L. Meeker Sr., 95, life- long resident of Hunlock Township, passed away early Sunday morning, November 26, 2023 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen Beckley Meeker on January 15, 2018. Born in Hunlock Township on September 22, 1928, he was a son of the late Freas and Maude Cragle Meeker. Arden graduated from Harter High School West Nanticoke and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army stateside during the Korean Conflict. He was certified in the medical field at the service school at Brooke Army Hospital at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and was honorably discharged in December, 1951. Prior to retiring, Arden was employed for over forty years by UGI Electric Division at the Hunlock Creek power plant. He was a 50- year member of Sylvania Lodge # 354, Free and Accepted Masons, Shickshinny; was a Phillies fan, and earlier in life was an avid hunter. In addition to his wife, Maureen, he was preceded in death by sisters, Yvonne Mundy and Margaret (Peg) Bower; and brothers, Donald Meeker and Harold (Mace) Cragle. Surviving are his children; Arden Meeker Jr. (wife, Nancy), of Hunlock Creek; Steven Meeker (companion, Sandy) of Shickshinny; Diane Meeker of Hunlock Creek; Carol Meeker (companion, Ned) of Schnecksville; and Tanya Brobst (husband, Arthur III) of Huntington Mills; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. A private viewing and funeral service will be held from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, Nanticoke with the Rev. Roger C. Noss Jr., pastor of Mount Moriah Independent Community Fellowship, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek. There will be no public calling hours.
