Ann M. Hankey, 96, of Nanticoke, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Birchwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke. Born December 30, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John and Victoria Tolodzieski Lewis. She was married to Daniel Hankey from 1947 until his death on February 8, 2004. Ann was raised in West Nanticoke and graduated from the former Harter High School in 1944. Following the flood in 1972, she moved to reside in Nanticoke and eventually on Hanlin Drive. Prior to retiring, Ann was employed as a secretary in the guidance office at John S. Fine High School. She also assisted her daughter Cheryl at Mama’s, Babies ‘n Bears collectible store on the Sans Souci Highway, Hanover Township. She and Daniel were active members of Askam United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. Ann was an excellent seamstress, making clothes for her family. In addition to her husband, Daniel, she was the last member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by sisters, Charmaine Bieda and Pricilla Goss; brothers, Thomas (Timmy) Lewis and John Lewis, and also her pet toy poodle, Cole, that was her constant companion. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Pajor and husband, Ronald, Nanticoke; a son, Dr. Dana Hankey and wife, Becky, Santa Barbara, CA; grandchildren, Crystal Pajor; Stephanie Hankey (Torre); Jordan Hankey (Talia); and Jonathan Hankey; as well as nieces and nephews. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing or calling hours. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Daniel in Benscoter Cemetery, Muhlenburg.
