I recall Dale and his Dad well from Newport High school. I sat next to him at the 60th reunion at Mtn Top . That's the first time seeing Dale since school. He indeed was a great guy. May he rest in peace.

I was only a little over a year old when uncle Butch and aunt Ann moved to their new house. Whenever I saw him, he was always really nice. At Halloween we would go over to their home and they would give my sister and I a little something. He always liked our costumes and asked questions about them. He never treated me like a kid and was always respectful and fun to visit. I will truly miss him, he was a good, fun, and overall just a really pleasant guy to be around. Even though I didn't see him often I could tell during those visits and from the stories I've heard, he was a nice, truthful, and helpfull man. I speak for me and my family, when I say we will miss him and remember him as he was.

I've known Uncle Butch since before I was born, so I often got to see him and talk to him growing up. He was such a thoughtful, loyal, and hard-working person, someone who I will never forget. Whenever I would call over to the Richard's house, I would be filled with extreme happiness when I would hear his kind voice at the other end of the line. I was told that when I was very little, I would look out the kitchen window of our house, watch him mow his lawn in amazement, and smile at him. He would be enveloped with such joy whenever he'd see me there, and he actually wrote a poem about it and gave it to my parents. There were many times over my childhood where we would stop at the Richard's house for halloween. We would have conversations with Uncle Butch and Aunt Ann, and they would compliment me and my brother's costumes. He was also aware of my extreme interest in rocks, and using what he knew, he made me a rock chart by gluing and labeling pieces of stone on a piece of wood to show the sequence of stone becoming coal. I truly had so many memorable experiences with him throughout my life, and his legacy and memory will forever remain in my heart, God bless his soul. He will be greatly missed.

Our family, will forever remember Dale (uncle Butch - as our kids knew him) as a kind man; full of great life stories; an amazing friend, and father figure. Countless conversations have been embedded into our minds and hearts. His voice and chuckle playing back as I write. Even my parents enjoyed their few talks; and my dad is not so easily pulled into conversing. Dale had a way of putting you at ease and conversations just naturally flowed. You learned to plan for visit time, because you knew once you walked into his garage you'd be there for awhile. Dale sitting there with his arms crossed, cap on his head. No one knowing exactly what topics would unfold in that time, but "you bet" when Dale would talk, he'd effortlessly pull you into a conversation because you wanted to hear what he had to say. His stories could take you on a journey, with his knowledge on numerous subjects, and his matter of fact persona. Hearing about what he and Ann had been up to, or where they planned to visit next, what places you should check out, what deal there was here or there. Talking about Collette, and Caleigh, his childhood, raising dogs, his time as a Scout, what bears were causing issues, the history of Nanticoke, and everything in between. Those conversations with him, or him and Ann together, will be intensely missed but always treasured. Dale was known far and wide across Nanticoke/Newport area, and we have no doubt that those who knew him, feel the loss as deeply as we do. He was a wise, caring, and generous man. We are grateful for all we learned from him.
Butch, its nine months away still and I continue to find myself thinking about how, holiday baking is not going to feel the same for me. Yet the tradition will continue, only now with your name at the forefront of my heart. We'll "be good" Dale. Rest peacefully in God's embrace uncle Butch and much love to you from all of us.
Love and prayers for God's comfort to Ann, Collett and family.

Dale was my teacher when I was at Pulaski Jr-Sr. High ( in the last class to attend school at Newport). He was such a kind person who knew his students on a personal level. He always had nice things to say and gave positive reinforcement. As a member of the community in Newport township, he continued to be valuable asset to assist with lawn equipment for my family. He will truly be missed.

To Ann and family,
Dale was a special person in many ways. His obituary describes his outlook and work ethic specifically. I always felt more like a friend than a customer and that was surely because of who Dale was. I will miss him. Please accept my deepest sympathy in his passing.
Sincerely,
Bob Deluca

Dale , the lawn mower repair man, high school English teacher, land owner, and most accomplished PhD in English was an enjoyable person to repair and sell you his products, Honesty, fairness, and efficient service were his trademarks. Best of all were the colorful stories about his life and the local Nanticoke culture of days gone by that I liked so much. I will miss him. He was a great asset to his community. Prayers to his wife Ann and his family. Doug Fawbush

I'm a tenant of Dale for 30 + years. He was like a father figure to me. One of the nicest people I ever had the pleasure to know. He was more of a parental figure than my own to parents combined. A true honorable , fair person who would drop what he was doing to help someone out. My family and I will miss him deeply and we will always remember him for the man he was. Our thoughts and prayers are for him, his wife Ann and his daughter who I never had the pleasure of meeting. God bless.

I first remember Dale as a teacher at GNA . Always gave you the respect that you gave him . I would take all our lawn care equipment to Butch for our church The Alden United Methodist. Butch took great care of us while he was in Sheatown . When he moved to Newport Center I would take all of my equipment to Butch. I would drop off the mower an then we got down to solving the worlds problems. Butch was in Paradise living with Ann and the animals in his happy place . Always felt better after our long talks pulling out of the driveway with a wave and a smile . Rest in peace my friend ❤️
