Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia Moyer of Hobbie, Pennsylvania, peacefully crossed over on Monday, June 3, 2024, joining her husband Gerald just in time to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this July.
Born in Nanticoke on July 2, 1945, Patricia was the daughter of Aloysius and Victoria Pastuszak. She graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1963 and worked as a payroll clerk at several local businesses before choosing to take on the more than full-time job of staying at home to care for her family.
Anyone lucky enough to have known Patricia will remember the pride she took in her home. Her house was unfailingly spotless, and her yard was pristine. If a neighbor passing by saw that the grass looked a little bit high, they would actually call her just to make sure everything was okay.
Patricia lived her life for others. She knew and appreciated how hard her husband worked, and before he retired, it was important to her to make sure a delicious home-cooked meal was on the table when he walked in the door every day. She took amazing care of her three children, washing and ironing their clothes, cleaning their rooms, packing their lunches, and doing the zillion other things moms do without anyone ever needing to ask.
Though she had a stubborn streak a mile long (a fact she would insist isn’t true), Patricia’s heart was a mile wide. She was an incredibly talented crocheter, and from sweaters to doilies to afghans, her hands were constantly busy creating beautiful gifts to welcome a new baby or celebrate the purchase of a new home. She also devoted a morning of each month to writing out dozens of birthday and holiday cards to the children of family, friends, and acquaintances, never forgetting to tuck a few dollars inside as a special treat.
While she loved all of her honorary grandchildren, Patricia’s only granddaughter, Riane, was the apple of her eye. She told everyone she met about ‘her girl,’ and she counted the days to every phone call and every visit. Some of Patricia’s favorite moments were cuddling with Riane in the ‘rocky chair,’ singing “You are my Sunshine” and arguing about who loved whom more.
Patricia is survived and remembered by her son Jerry who selflessly cared for her every day for the past three and a half years; her daughter Jennifer and her husband Michael; her granddaughter, Riane; her sisters, Eleanor and Myra; her brother Michael; and other family, friends, and loved ones too numerous to count. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Vicki; and her sister, Lisa.
In place of flowers or memorial contributions, the family asks that you follow the advice of Patricia’s favorite singer, Daniel O’Donnell: “Now all your thoughts of me let them be joyful, of things we've done and happy times we shared. So don't be sad dear ones because I've left you; please laugh and talk of me as if I'm there.”
Services will be private and have been placed in the care of Dinelli Family Funeral Home, Inc. Nanticoke.
