John R. Lapinski Obituary

John Lapinski, 65, of Mocanaqua, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024 peacefully at home.


Born January 25, 1959, he was a son of the late John and Helen Conrad Lapinski.


John graduated in 1976 from Nanticoke High School. He then attended LCCC and Kutztown University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. His career as an R.N. included employment with VNA, Allied Services, and John Heinz Institute.


John had a passion for music and was always strumming his guitar. He also enjoyed cooking on Sunday afternoons while watching the Giants play football, and enjoyed beating his son, Ian, at golf. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary’s Church of Mocanaqua.


In addition to his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by his children, Alicia (Justin) Baratta; and Ian (Abbie) Ashford; grandsons, Jerry and Miles Baratta; siblings Donald Lapinski, Donna Thompson, Richard (Judith) Lapinski; nieces, Heather Thompson; Autumn (John) Schoen; Ami (Richard) Murby; Katie Lapinski; and Caroline Lapinski; nephews, Matthew (Mary Sumpter) Lapinski; and Neil John (Anastasia) Thompson; along with great nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, John and Helen Lapinski, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Neil Thompson.


A private family service will be held on Thursday at Dinelli Family Funeral Home, Nanticoke. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
