Susan B. Jones, 59, of the Sheatown section of Newport Township, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, Januaray 4, 2025. She was born August 17, 1965, a daughter of the late Lewis and Eva Jean Harding Jones Jr.. A 1983 graduate of John S. Fine High School, she later attended Wilkes College, receiving a bachelors degree in business. She had also studied toward a degree law and practical nursing. Her past employers included Sallie Mae, Shot Glass, and most recently, the Wilkes- Barre Housing Authority, processing applications among other duties in the human resources department. Susan was an avid reader who loved trivia, traveling, music and New York City theater shows. She had a kind heart and loved animals, adopting numerous from local shelters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marilyn Petroski, and Roberta Morris. She will be deeply missed by her sisters, Patty Key, Betty Cherr (John), and Robin Jones; nieces, Laura Petroski, and Ashley Williamson (Brian); nephews, Mike Morris, Aaron Cherr, and Dustin Cherr; as well as many friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 18th at 5 p.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke, with the Rev. Roger C. Noss Jr., pastor of Mount Moriah Independent Community Fellowship, officiating. Visitation hours will be 4 to 5 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request any memorial donations be made to the animal rescue or charity or your choice.
