Ward J. Davenport, 61, of Nanticoke, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Maple Ridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Kingston where he was a patient since December. Born May 26, 1963 in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late James Bryce Davenport and Lillian Pryce Davenport. Ward resided in Nanticoke most of his life and graduated from Greater Nanticoke Area High School in 1984. He had been employed briefly as a utility clerk at the former Weis Supermarket in the Hanover Mall, Dundee and later by United Rehabilitation Services. Ward liked swimming and was coached by Richard L. Evans. He was also a Special Olympian through the Wyoming Valley Special Olympics chapter, and was proud to have garnished medals in the events he participated in. Surviving is his brother, J. Reid Davenport and his wife, Jennifer of Dallas; nieces, Ashley Pippinger and her husband, Ben of Dallas; and Lindsey Davenport of Centreville, Virginia; great niece, Claire Pippinger; and great nephew, Eli Pippinger; an aunt, Jean Duncan, of Nanticoke; as well as several cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Cori’s Place, where he had resided, as well as Maple Ridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their dedication and care. Private services and entombment will be with his parents in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Hanover Township. There will be no public viewing or calling hours.
