Obituary of Kathleen Mislitski

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathleen J. Mislitski, 55, of the Honey Pot section of Nanticoke, PA, passed away on April 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed at home, surrounded by her family and an abundance of love. Born on December 21, 1969, in Kingston, PA, she was the daughter of the late Donald C. Johnson Sr. and Jacqueline Faith Howells Johnson. Kathy, as she was known to most, was a 1987 graduate of Valley West High School. After high school, she furthered her education at Luzerne County Community College where she pursued her interest in Psychology and Business Management. Later in her life she also attended night classes. Kathy loved education and always worked hard to adapt to a changing job market. Kathy began working for Benco Dental when she was 20 years old. Her career with Benco spanned over thirty years, but more importantly, she met the love of her life, her husband, Ed Mislitski, while they both worked there. He too looks back on their early Benco Days as some of their most memorable moments in their love story. Married on October 28, 1995, Kathy and Ed shared 29 years of a marriage filled with love, laughter and commitment. Before she became ill, Kathy worked for Intermetro Industries where she easily adapted to a new work setting and skill set. She was surrounded by some of the best colleagues she had throughout her career. Kathy lived for her family and in one word, she was best described as selfless. She lived her life, always putting others first, and she did so without hesitation. She was and will always be the best support system and mother to her daughters, Morgan and Paige. She would tell you that her defining role in life was being Ed's wife and their Mom . They are a wonderful legacy of her love, character, selflessness and strength. Kathy was very easy-going. She loved visiting the beach, relaxing by the pool, hanging out with her tight-knit family, and doing solo trips to South Carolina to visit her sister, Kelly. She enjoyed a lot of life's ups, but also too many of life's downs. Still, she remained strong, resilient and deeply devoted to her faith. Her strong relationship with God allowed her to find a wonderful presence of peace throughout her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald C. Johnson Jr. and sister Melissa Colarusso. She is survived by her loving husband, Ed; her amazing daughters, Morgan Mislitski and her partner, Grant Rinehimer, Paige Makarewicz and her husband, Scott; a sister in South Carolina, Kelly Aguirre and her husband, Roman; father-in-law, Charles Gordon; and several nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her furry best friends, Gemma and Nova. Kathy lived an admirable life, colored with abundant love, unflinching faith, and selfless kindness. She will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 23rd at 7:30 p.m. at Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 East Broad Street, Nanticoke. Visitation hours will be 5 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathy's memory may be made to National Alliance on Mental Health at NAMI.org.
