Clara A. Federici, 101, of Mocanaqua passed away Monday evening, May 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Wilkes Barre General Hospital. Born March 16, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Luigi and Delia Angeli Tomassini. Raised in Mocanaqua, she attended Shickshinny schools. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and was employed by Luzerne Outerwear Jacket Factory. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church, Mocanaqua. Clara was a faith-filled woman with a generous and hospitable heart. She always had her family at the center of her thoughts and prayers. In her free time, Clara's hobbies included, playing cards, going to Atlantic City Casino’s, playing Bingo, cooking her Italian foods, making her own sauce, and baking her cookies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Geno; and her sisters, Inez Cresci, and Dena Simone. Surviving are children, daughter, Bonnie Federici, and son Jeff Federici and his fiance, Justine Tomko; a grandson, Nicholas Federici; a sister, Theresa Wojcik of Wanamie; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their love and sincere gratitude to Dr. Straub, and his staff, and Dr. Ellis, and his staff, and Commonwealth Home Health Hospice from Berwick, for the wonderful care shown to their mom. Funeral services will begin Friday at 11:15 a.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 East Broad St., Nanticoke with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Mocanaqua, with the Rev. Philbert Takyi-Nketiah, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Italian Independent Cemetery, Glen Lyon. A viewing and visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the transferal to church.
