Earl T. Munson Jr. Obituary

Earl T. Munson Jr., 84, of Slocum, passed away May 22, 2025, under hospice care at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazelton.


Born February 6, 1941 in Sugar Notch, he was the son of the late Earl T. and Alice Comstedt Munson Sr..


Earl attended Hanover Memorial High School, and joined the United States Army in 1962.


Early in life, he worked as a diesel mechanic for International Harvester, Scranton. He worked at Quaker – Empire, Dorrance for many years, and later he became an owner and operator truck driver and retired from driving school bus for Rinehimer Bus Lines.


Camping, and riding his trike Motorcycle were some of his favorite activities. He also enjoyed building race cars with his friend Owen.


He was a member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, Slocum, and Coalville Lodge #474 Free and Accepted Masons, Sugar Notch, for over 60 years, and currently Fidelity Lodge #474, Wilkes Barre.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia Jones Munson; a sister, Elizabeth Munson McNulty; sisters-in-laws, Marian Jones, Sharon Miller and her husband Ray, and Anna Mae Thoma and her husband, Gary.


Earl is survived by his loving wife, Marian Hahn Munson; daughters, Debra Arnold and her husband, Randy, of Slocum, and Susan Keefe and her husband, Kevin, of Mountain Top; son, David Munson, of North Carolina; step sons, Robert Miller and his wife, Becky, of Nuangola, Ronald Miller, of Nuangola, Randy Miller and his wife, Angie, of Slocum, and Roy Miller and his wife, Rachele, of Delaware; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Glenn McNulty, of Lancaster, Bill Jones, of Beech Creek; sister-in-law, Joyce Raub and her husband, Bill, of Maryland; as well as many nieces and nephews.


A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Fritzingertown Senior Living, and also Lehigh Valley Health Services, for the excellent care given to him.


A memorial service will be held Saturday June 7th at 10:30 a.m., from Dinelli Family Funeral Home 170 East Broad Street, Nanticoke, with the Rev. Fran Fink, his pastor, officiating.


Visitation will be Friday, June 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. Officers and Members of Fidelity Lodge #474 F. & A. M. will conduct a Masonic Memorial service at 7:30 p.m.


Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Earl’s memory may be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice 2024 Lehigh Street, Ste 100, Allentown, PA 18103.
