TIME WILL NEVER CHANGE MY LOVE FOR REGINA

“Time is too slow for those who wait, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love — time is not.”

In loving memory of Conrad Plodwick, who passed away on October 6, 2025. Conrad was a son, grandson, brother, uncle, godfather, great-uncle, cousin, friend, and above all, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law.

Born at the family homestead in Honey Pot, PA, Conrad was the son of the late Francis and Leocadia (Robaczewski) Plodwick.

He graduated from St. Mary’s Parochial School in 1954, where he served faithfully as an altar boy throughout his school years, and from Nanticoke High School in 1958, remaining active in class reunions.

Conrad is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Regina, his high school sweetheart whom he cherished and placed on a pedestal throughout their life together. He is also survived by his only daughter, Dawn Marie, her husband Joseph Chalk, and his two grandsons, Corey Chalk and Cameron Chalk, who brought him endless joy.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Plodwick (2017). He is survived by his sister, Claudette George, and her husband Thomas; their children and Conrad’s nieces: Sarah Jenifer George (Godchild of Conrad), Jessica Elizabeth Fiore, Katie Rose Nahan, and Annalise Sittser. He was a great-uncle to Rosalie M. Fiore, Daphne Nahan, Philip Raffaele Fiore, Archer Nahan, Peter David Sittser, and Asa Sittser. He was also godfather to Tracy (Kuniega) Piertzak.

Conrad worked at United Pants before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in October 1962. He proudly served in Vietnam aboard the USS Oxford, a communications security vessel, departing Norfolk, VA, in January 1965. He held a top security clearance and was honorably discharged in Washington, D.C., as Petty Officer Second Class (CTM2-E5). His decorations included the Vietnam Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal (1st award), and the National Defense Service Medal (1st award).

After his military service, Conrad began his career with the Bell Telephone Company as a lineman, later advancing to PBX engineer. In 1984, after constructing the family home largely with his own hands and with Regina’s help, he chose to become self-employed rather than accept an out-of-town assignment, because family always came first.

Conrad was deeply devoted to his wife, daughter, and grandchildren. He proudly walked Dawn Marie down the aisle with tears in his eyes. He loved capturing family memories through photography and home movies, creating a legacy of pictures and recordings that documented countless milestones.

He delighted in the births of his grandsons, Corey and Cameron, and enjoyed playing ball with them, attending their games, and going on family trips. He relished every moment spent with them.

Beyond his family, Conrad served his community as an elected member of the Nuangola Borough Council and as an alternate on the Zoning Committee. He was also a devoted Catholic, a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish in Nanticoke, and a former member of St. Mary’s Church, St. Stanislaus Church, and St. Ann’s Chapel in Nuangola.

Conrad had a gift for humor and a passion for genealogy. He spent countless hours researching family history in courthouses and libraries, building the Plodwick family tree, and collecting photographs to preserve family memories. He often scanned and shared albums on CDs for relatives, ensuring that the past would never be forgotten.

To Conrad, “having somewhere to go is home, having someone to love is family, and having both is a blessing.” His life was full of blessings, and he passed away with dignity, surrounded by the love of his family. His departure was felt most deeply when he let go of Regina’s hand after a lifetime by her side.

Funeral services will begin Saturday, at 9:30 a.m., from Dinelli Family Funeral Home 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke, with a Mass Of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke, with the Rev. Brian F. Van Fossen as celebrant.

Interment with Rite of Committal will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his parents. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy.

Viewing and visitation will be Friday 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
