Rose Mary “Nan” Pilch, 90, of Warrior Run passed away peacefully Sunday evening, November 2, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born June 22, 1935 in Cape Brenton, Nova Scotia, Canada, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Anastacia Syms Yanora. At the age of 8, her family immigrated to Wilkes-Barre. With intentions of becoming a nun, she attended and graduated from Villa Walsh Academy Catholic College Preparatory School, Morristown, NJ.
Discovering she was meant to be a wife and mother, she returned to Wilkes-Barre, and on June 11, 1955, she married her sweetheart, Frank Pilch. They resided in Warrior Run and raised their four children. Frank preceded her in death on July 24, 2009 after sharing 54 beautiful years full of love together.
Besides caring for her own family, Nan devoted over 20 years being a gourmet chef , housekeeper, and caring for the priests at St. Mary’s Church of the Maternity rectory, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre as well as Holy Family Parish, Sugar Notch.
She was a devoted catholic, praying the rosary daily. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Sugar Notch for most of her life and a member of its Christian Mothers. Nan will be lovingly remembered for cooking and feeding everyone. She was everyone’s “Nan” and touched the lives of everyone she met, and they became like family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frank, she was preceded by her beloved granddaughter, Bethany Lynn Pilch; her brothers, Ralph, Rocco, Louie, and John Yanora; and a sister, Carmella Kunis.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Frank Pilch Jr. (Donna), Matthew Pilch (Patricia), Leonard Pilch (Joanne), and Donna Pilch-Myers (Charles); 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Louise Byndas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will begin Friday 10:15 a.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Leo’s Holy Rosary Church, 33 Manhattan Street, Ashley.
Interment and Rite of Committal will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Viewing and visitation hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Pilch’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or, to Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
