Edith C. Foose, 82, of Wapwallopen and long-time resident of Hunlock Creek, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 4, 2025 a patient at Mountain Top Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was the widow of William F. Foose who passed away February 7, 2020.
Born September 30, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the only child of the late Walter and Agnes Freeman Hynoski.
Edith and Bill were foster parents for Luzerne County Children and Youth Services and provided a loving home for over 300 children. Later Edith became a foster grandparent for Foster Grandparents for Luzerne County.
In addition to her husband, William, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Lekka; and a son-in-law, Roy Turley.
Surviving are daughters, Denise Swithers and husband, David, with whom she last resided; and Barbara Cunningham and husband, Paul of Reading, California; a son, Terry Foose of Wapwallopen; grandchildren, Jennifer Tabbit and husband, Joseph, Jonathan Buydos and wife, Corrina, Jessica Knorr, and Alyssa Zissen; great- grandchildren, Elizabeth and Austin Tabbit, Jonathan Buydos Jr., Helene Buydos, Tyler James Williams, Cheyenne Knorr, and Reba Knorr; a brother-in-law, John Foose and companion Joyce of Warrior Run; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8th at 6:30 p.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke, with the Rev. Megan A. Shaffer, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nanticoke, officiating.
Viewing and visitation hours will be Saturday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Foose’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
