Jay,
Of course no words can suffice at this time of unspeakable sorrow for you. Time may never completely erase your pain, but it is definitely on your side. We know you are strong and will carry on in the memories you have in your heart.
All our best,
Wes and Patti

Dear Suffren Family, I’m very saddened to hear of Suff’s passing. He was my most inspirational teacher & one of the main reasons I became a teacher myself.
Suff sang in my church choir, encouraged me to try out for wrestling & grew up a few miles from my Dad’s hometown of Nanticoke, PA. I’m saddened I cannot pay my respect in person, so please know, Suff was one of the few teachers who made a positive impact on MANY students lives. Patient, funny, entertaining, great listener & extremely intelligent! Simply put, he was the best! May he Rest In Peace.

I did not know Jack (I maybe met him once or twice), but my mother, Eleanore Rudy, also taught math at Nutley HS. Every night, we would hear stories of her day, and Jack was often in those stories. She had great respect for him, and I know they enjoyed the many years they worked together.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I was actually talking with my daughter about him just the other day. I was explaining that she would have dozens of teachers throughout her schooling and that most would be easily forgotten. A precious few will be eternal in her memory for how they make her feel, good or bad. Suff was one of the best. I only had him for one year and I did terribly in his class. (I still don't remember a single thing about trigonometry) Regardless, he was eternally patient, unfailingly positive, and a true example of a role model for his students and other school staff. May he rest in peace knowing that he made a positive impact on so many...
