John J. Breita, 70, of Kosciuszko Street, Nanticoke, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 shortly after admission at Residential Hospice, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. Born April 9, 1950 in Nanticoke he was a son of the late Walter and Helen Baker Breita. He was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1968 and furthered his education earning an Associate’s degree from Luzerne County Community College, a Bachelor’s degree from Wilkes College and Master’s degree from University of Scranton. Mr. Breita was on the faculty at Greater Nanticoke Area Schools as an Elementary teacher retiring after 33 years of service. He also served as assistant wrestling coach and ultimately head coach for many years. He was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish and formerly St. Stanislaus Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman and belonged to the Nanticoke Conservation Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Breita. Surviving is his wife, the former Sandra Nitch, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage; a son, Walter Breita and his fiancé, Jill Harris, of Newport Township; a grandson, Gage Breita; a brother, Stanley and wife, Jacqueline Breita of Millville, Delaware as well as nieces and nephews. A private blessing service will be held from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. James R. Nash, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary of Czestochowa Cemetery, Nanticoke. There will be no public viewing or calling hours.
