Please share a memory of Joanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joanne J. Ferraro, 76, of Nanticoke, died May 18, 2021, at United Methodist Homes Wesley Village, Pittston. Joanne was born in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Albert and Josephine Aponick. She was a 1962 graduate of Wyoming Memorial High School. She later attended Empire Beauty School in Wilkes-Barre and earned her cosmetologist license in 1979. She worked as a cosmetologist and was also employed at different times by the Visiting Nurse Association, Home Health Services and Aetna Life Insurance Company. She delighted in annual trips to Madeira Beach, and Daytona Beach, Florida. She also enjoyed visiting Amish Country in Lancaster Pennsylvania, to see live shows in Sights and Sounds Theater. Joanne loved cooking and baking, music, jigsaw puzzles and reading, but what she loved most was her family. She had a boundless amount of love to give to her husband, two children and seven grandchildren. With an unmatched selflessness, she was a constant nurturing presence in all of their lives. She inspired them to love others the way she loved them by her example, as well as by her radiant smile that never faded. She lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her through memories, recipes, her favorite songs and so much more. Her family expresses their most heartfelt appreciation for the nurses and staff at Wesley Village Serenity Unit and the Hospice of Sacred Heart for providing the highest standard of care, of which she was most deserving. Surviving are her husband, Ralph; her daughter, Linda Slavoski and son-in-law Michael; her son, Ralph Ferraro III and daughter-in-law Lori; and her seven grandchildren: Matthew, Nicole and Lauren Slavoski, and Nicholas, Maggie, Anthony and Thomas Ferraro. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 9:30am from the Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home 170 East Broad Street Nanticoke, Pa 18634 with a mass of Christian burial at 10am in Saint Faustina Kowalska Parish, Primary Site, with the Rev. James R. Nash as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call Friday 4-8pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Faustina Kowalska Parish or the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, Wilkes-Barre Office, 57 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pa 18701
