Lawrence Malys, 59, of Sugar Notch, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. Born April 22, 1962 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Keprean and Olga Koretz Malys. Larry was raised in Plains and graduated from James M. Coughlin High School and the Wilkes-Barre Vocational-Technical School, class of 1980. Larry began his automotive service career with Alexander Chevrolet in Hanover Township and for the past 15 years, and was currently employed, with Sherwood Freightliner in Tunkhannock as Parts Liaison. Larry was a faithful and active member of Nebo Baptist Church, Nanticoke, where he was the leader of the puppet ministry, was on the Tech Team, and enjoyed bowling with the Christian Bowling League. He also served his community as Judge of Elections for Sugar Notch Borough until 2019. On August 24, 2012, he married Christina Poulakos. They enjoyed traveling, trips to the beach and Massachusetts, and taking day trips to the Poconos. Surviving in addition to his wife, Christina, is his son, Lawrence M. Malys and wife, Joclyn of Philadelphia; brothers, Leonard Malys (Vicki DeSantis) of Bluffton, SC, and Stephen Malys (Diane) of Monrovia, MD; nephews, Tyler and Daryl Malys, and niece, Anissa Malys; sister-in-law, Paula Balz (Jim), their children, Michael Balz (Kimmie), Chrissy Balz (Edgar) and Amanda Chalecki (David), and sister-in-law, Rose Poulakos. A private service will be held at Nebo Baptist Church, with the Rev. Timothy G. Hall, his pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. There will be no public viewing or calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Lawrence’s memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O.
