Obituary of Alicia Zapora

Alicia Zapora, 84, of Somerset, KY, and formerly of New Jersey and native of Sheatown sectin of Newport Township, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
Alicia was born on September 10, 1937 to the late Irvin Richards and Julia Rish Richards.
She resided in New Jersey for many years prior to moving to Kentucky in 1995. Alicia was a chef, lovingly referred to as, “Seahag” at the Barnegat Light Seafood Company. Alicia was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Alden and its Altar Guild. She enjoyed creating ceramics, was an avid reader, liked to bake and was a member of the Garden club.
Always up for an adventure, Alicia went zip-lining for her birthday two years ago at the age of 82. She also had a Cockroach named after her, “Alicia Bickers” compliments of the Bronx Zoo as a Mother’s Day gift from her daughter, three years ago.
She is survived by a daughter, Faith Ann Zapora of Philadelphia; a son, Scott Zapora of East Windsor, NJ; a brother, Carl Richards of MD; and a sister, Eileen Moyer of PA. She has no grandchildren, however, she does have one fur-baby and two grand-fur babies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jan R. Zapora in 2003; and a brother, “Baby” Irvin Richards.
The family never had to worry about her being alone, as her guardian angel and her beloved Kentucky family always took care of her.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 12 E. Kirmar Avenue, Alden Station with the Rev. Charles C. Warwick, officiating.
Viewing and visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Interment will follow in Newport Cemetery, Newport Center.
