Ruth Ann Jones, 83, of Hanover Township passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a brief illness. Born October 2, 1938 in Girardville, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Morgan and Harriet (Botzer) Jones. She graduated from Girardville High School, class of 1956. She furthered her education, earning a diploma from McCann School of Business in 1958, as well as the International Accountants Society in Chicago, Illinois in 1975. Ruth Ann was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg as an accountant, retiring after 30 years of service. She resided in Girardville before moving to this area in 2005. She is survived by nephews, Joseph P. DiRisio, Plains, and David DiRisio, Nanticoke; a niece, Elaine DiRisio Halesey, Hanover Township; great nephews, Attorney Peter J. Halesey and his wife, Jamie, and Attorney Christopher Halesey, both of Pittsburgh; a great niece, Anna Anderson-DiRisio, Wilkes-Barre; a great-great grandnephew, Peter Q. Halesey and great-great niece, Nora Halesey, both of Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents, Ruth Ann was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Tarr and sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Joseph A. DiRisio; a nephew, Peter M. Halesey and her life-long friend, Mary T. Oliveri. Private services are in the care of Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke. There will be no public viewing or calling hours. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs, near Ashland.
