Bettilou Russell, 73, of Nanticoke passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 shortly after an unexpected cancer diagnosis. Born November 13, 1948, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse S. and Bessie E. (Thomas) Stefanovich. Bettilou was employed by Alta Products earlier in life. She was a waitress for many years, working at Austie’s and the former Galaidas Restaurant in Hanover Township. In later years she was employed at PCS Computers where she worked side by side with her son- in- law, Shawn to build one of the area’s most notable computer manufactures of its time. She retired in 2003. Bettilou (Betty) was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She loved sharing in the life of her children, grandchildren and little dog and companion, LuLu. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and sharing in their milestones. Family time at her daughter, Renee’s house celebrating holidays and Sunday dinners, Friday pizza nights, yearly beach vacations, trips to Disney World, and girls’ day out shopping were the highlights of her years. You could be sure to see Betty at every school or sporting event as she was the PROUDEST grammie there. She is survived by her daughter, Renee Russell Mera and husband, Shawn, Mountain Top; granddaughters, Jordan Mera Carroll and husband, Ryan, and McKenna Mera. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melania Russell on January 12, 2017; infant siblings, Cassie, Alan Larry, and Alphonse; and her former spouse, Frank A. Russell. A Memorial service will be held Monday at noon from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street Nanticoke with Deacon Pat Massino, officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation Monday from 10 -12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
