Catherine M. (“Ciocia Kay”) Jones, 82, of Nanticoke, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Guardian Healthcare Center, Sheatown. Born November 15, 1939 in Larksville, she was the daughter of the late Alfonso and Sophie (Brozozowski) Gilvickas. Catherine graduated from Larksville High School in 1957 and was a member of St John the Baptist Church in Larksville. She worked at Woodbury Manufacturing in Wilkes Barre and General Cigar Factory in Kingston. Kay was an avid polka fan. She enjoyed dancing and was actively involved in organizing and facilitating polka trips with her friends and several area polka bands. She loved her animals, especially her beloved cat “Felix”. Surviving is her husband Richard, Nanticoke, with whom she would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July; a sister, Sophia Fimowicz, Wyoming; nieces, Pamela Serratore (Peter), Wyoming; and Deborah Benjamin (David), Littleton, Colorado; nephews, Stanley Fimowicz (Martha), Shavertown; Robert Jones (Nanette), Philadelphia; Michael Jones, Croyden; and Thomas Jones (Theresa), Mount Royal, New Jersey; along with several great nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing or calling hours.
