Margaret Raitter deLeon, 90, of Buttonwood section of Hanover Township passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Born January 2, 1932 and raised in Larksville, she was a daughter of the late William and Agnes (Forney) Raitter. She was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1949 and continued her education, graduating from Empire Beauty School, Wilkes-Barre. Margaret operated a beauty Shop in Hanover section of Nanticoke for many years, and was employed as a pastry chef for the Woodlands Inn and Resort, Wilkes-Barre for twenty years. She had resided in Arizona for nearly thirty years and was a pastry chef at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix. Following her retirement, she returned to the area living in Buttonwood. Margaret loved art and painting and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters. Surviving are her children; Mark Skipalis, Nanticoke; Ann King, Oxford, GA; Betsy Hanko, Nanticoke; Michael Skipalis and wife, Connie of Sacramento, CA; Anthony (Tony) Skipalis of Wilkes-Barre; and Rita Missigman and husband, John of Dallas; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Opachinski of Hanover section, Nanticoke; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 13th from Nebo Baptist Church, 75 S. Prospect Street, Nanticoke, with the Rev. Timothy G. Hall, pastor, officiating.
