James J. “Gus” Oram, 91, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 at Highland Park Senior Living, Wilkes-Barre Township where he was a resident. Born August 8, 1931 in Hanover Township, he was a son of the late James and Mary Sobieski Oram. He graduated from Hanover Memorial High School in 1949 and enlisted with the U.S. Air Force where he served honorably for four years during the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after thirty years of service. James loved his family and cherished his time with his wife, Mary Ann. He was generous with his time for others, offering a helping hand when needed. James was a man of great faith and was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in the Hanover section of Nanticoke. Throughout the years, he dedicated his time to church activities and spent many years serving on the parish council in various positions. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Rauckis; and brothers, Joseph and William. Surviving is his wife of fifty-two years, the former Mary Ann Lesko; a son, Gary G. Hasinus Sr. and wife, Elizabeth, Hunlock Creek; and a daughter, Carol Ann Curry and husband, Bryan, Marlton, NJ; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Panichida will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 106 Welles Street, Hanover section of Nanticoke with The Very Rev. Fr. Traian Stafiuc, his pastor, and The Very Rev. Fr. Michael Evans as celebrants. Viewing and visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Nanticoke.
