Bernice Norczyk Buchkowski, 82, of Nanticoke and formerly Wanamie, passed away Sunday morning, April 2, 2023 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre, succumbing to a cancer she endured for five years. She was born in Nanticoke to the late Walter and Chesterine Zajaczkowski Norczyk. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Gerald Buchkowski in 2002, and a nephew, Kevin Sherman in 2015. She was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska parish, Nanticoke and previously St. Mary’s Church, Wanamie for many years. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Buchkowski (Kathleen), of Nanticoke, daughters, Cheryl Kotz (Frank), of Nanticoke, and Lynne Markowski (Tony), of Drums; she has four grandchildren, Brian Buchkowski (Tonya), Eric and Kyle Kotz, and Stephanie Glidden (Matthew); three great grandchildren, Elliot, Quintin, and Isaiah Kotz; and a sister, Jeannette Sherman (Stanley), of Nanticoke. She was the best wife, mom, mother-in-law, nanny, sister, and friend. She will be forever missed and remain in our hearts. Bernice’s family would like to sincerely thank everyone at Penn Medicine who provided their care and expertise to her throughout her battle with cancer, also the staff at Allied Services Palliative and Hospice Care. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, April 10th at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, 520 South Hanover Street, Nanticoke. Those attending the Funeral Mass are asked to go directly to the church Monday morning. Viewing will be private for the family, and there will be no public calling hours. Private interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wanamie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Allied Services Hospice, 200 S.
