Joseph A. Gorski, 73, of the Honey Pot section of Nanticoke, passed away Saturday evening, May 20, 2023, a patient at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of Nanticoke, he was born August 23, 1949, a son of the late Teofil and Pearl Zegarski Gorski. Joseph graduated from Nanticoke High School, class of 1967, and in his earlier years was worked at Penn Footwear, Nanticoke. He was later employed by Rymer Auto Specialist, Wilkes-Barre for many years until retiring.
He was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke and previously St. Mary of Czestochowa Church before the consolidation of parishes.
Joseph was an avid outdoorsman up until his illness. He enjoyed hunting and trap shooting. He was also an avid fisherman and had a unique talent of restoring, customizing, and making custom fishing rods.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor in 1965; and his fiancee, Christine Cybulski.
Surviving is his brother, Alexander Gorski and his wife, Barbara; a niece, Karen Briggs and husband, Bob, all of Honey Pot section of Nanticoke; a nephew, Kenneth Gorski and wife, Joanne, of Wilkes-Barre; five great nieces and nephews; as well a great-great niece.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wanamie.
Viewing and visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9:30 a.m. until transferal to the church Wednesday.
