Mary E. Plytage, 92, of Plymouth Township, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 24, 2023, a patient at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

Born August 8, 1930 in West Nanticoke she was a daughter of the late Richard and Lillian Gorka Grout. She attended the Plymouth Township schools and graduated from Harter High School with the class of 1948.

She married Albert Plytage on July 12, 1951 and they resided in Plymouth Township, where they built their home and raised their family.

Mary had worked for the Department of Public Assistance; the Yuma Arizona Test Station; and retired in 1988 from Greater Nanticoke Area School District’s Administration Office, after twenty years of service.

She was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke; the Silver and Gold Club, Plymouth; the Senior Citizens Friendship Club of St. Mary’s Church, Plymouth; and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) at the Christian Service Center, Plymouth.

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert on December 22, 2018 after sixty-seven years of marriage.

Surviving is her daughter, Ruth Ann Konrad and husband, Richard, Mountain Top; a son, Albert M. Plytage, West Nanticoke; grandchildren, Michael Plytage, Bethlehem; Mary Beth Alberola and husband, Samuel, Nanticoke; and Albert R. Plytage and wife, Ellie, Williamsport; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Mesecke, Centereach, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke with The Rev. Richard Gyansah-Tabiri as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Nanticoke.

Viewing and visitation hours will be at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until transferal to the church Saturday.
