Joseph Armstrong, 89, of the Lee Park section of Hanover Township and formerly Alden Station, passed away at home on Friday, July 28, 2023 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
Joe was born on October 25, 1933 to Anna Armstrong in Nanticoke Pennsylvania. After graduating from Newport High School, he enlisted in the United States Armed Forces and was stationed in Koblenz, Germany.
Upon his return to the United States, Joe became involved in sales at which he excelled. He also held the position of supervisor at Air Products in Hanover Township for 35 years. Upon his retirement, he continued to work for Air Products as a contractor in which he traveled throughout the world.
Known for his sense of humor and friendliness, he once guest starred as Foxy the Clown on Uncle Ted’s Ghoul School. Prior to his passing, he was employed as a security guard at Allied Universal Security.
A golf enthusiast, Joe could usually be found on golf courses throughout the Valley. Always ready for a round of golf, his clubs were usually stored in the trunk of his car. Joe was also interested in body building, especially in conjunction with natural nutrition. He was active in a number of organizations including the Knights of Columbus, the Free and Accepted Masons, Fidelity Lodge #474, Wilkes-Barre and formerly Coalville Lodge # 474; and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Bloomsburg at Caldwell Consistory.
