Mitchell E. Vandermark, 42, went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, August 7, 2023 after a lifelong struggle with Cerebral Palsy. He was under the care of Allied Services Scranton Rehabilitation Hospital for the past twenty years. Born July 18, 1981 in Danville, he was a son of the late Carolyn Vandermark Mowery and was raised by his grandparents, Albert and Patricia Vandermark. Mitchell was a graduate, receiving high school diplomas from both Greater Nanticoke Area and Hanover Area High Schools, and was a member of New Life Community Church, Mountain Top. Surviving, in addition to his grandparents, Albert and Patricia Vandermark of Glen Lyon, are his twin brother, Michael Vandermark and Sara of Pittston; a half-brother, Jeffrey Mowery and wife, Stacey of Mountain Top; a niece; two nephews; and numerous cousins. His Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. John Broglin, his pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in Newport Cemetery, Newport Center. Family and friends are invited for viewing and visitation hours from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
