Leon A. Tabbit, 80, formerly of Lower Askam section of Hanover Township and Nanticoke, and most currently, Falls, passed away Monday evening, September 11, 2023 at The Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. Born February 20, 1943 in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Joseph and Pearl Rinibilas Tabbit. Leon was a graduate of St. Vincent’s High School, Plymouth and early in life worked for his parents with Tabbit’s Market, Nanticoke. He also worked at Park Market, Nanticoke, Alta Products, Hanover Township, and was a long -time employee at Newtown Manufacturing, South Wilkes-Barre until retiring. He was a member of Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, Buttonwood and recently enjoyed attending the Falls Senior Center. He and his wife, the former Barbara Ann Youlls, shared forty-one years of marriage until her death on August 10, 2020. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Tabbit. Surviving are sons; Michael Brogan, with whom he last resided in Falls; and Richard Brogan and his wife, Sherri, of Shickshinny; grandchildren, April, Tiffany and Richard (RJ) Brogan; sisters, Rose Madl of Nanticoke; Theresa Evans and Marlene Brennan, both of Manville, NJ; a brother, Larry Tabbit, of Fort Worth, TX; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Blessing service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. James E. McGahagan, officiating. Private interment will be in St. Joseph’s Slovak Catholic Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends and family may call for viewing and visitation hours on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
