Margaret I. Bacon, 93, of Oplinger Towers Nanticoke, passed away Friday, December 1 2023 at her home.

She was the widow of Herbert Bacon who died on July 20. 1996.

Born on December 4, 1929 in Wapwallopen, she was the daughter of the late Freeman and Beulah Kulp Lewis. Margaret grew up in Shickshinny, later living in Newport Township. She lived in Slocum Township 20 years and Sheatown for 20 years before moving to Oplinger Towers in 2011.

She belonged to The Faith United Methodist Church, Slocum, for many years.

In addition to raising and caring for her family, Margaret worked cleaning homes and offices until retirement.

Along with her husband, Herbert, she was preceded in death by brothers Robert and Milford Lewis.

She is survived by her son, Daniel, Nanticoke, and daughter, Patricia Robertson, Alamogordo NM, five grandchildren including Louise Bacon, Warren Bacon, and Dawn Powers, nine great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and cousin Hazel Lewis Smith, Tamaqua.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, Inc. 170 E Broad Street, Nanticoke, with Rev. Roger C. Noss, Jr., pastor of Mount Moriah Independent Community Fellowship officiating.

Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Shickshinny.

Viewing and visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.
