Janet Domzalski, 84, of Nanticoke and formerly Wanamie, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday morning, May 11, 2024. She was born March 4,1940 in Wanamie where she lived her entire life until moving into Park Towers, Nanticoke five years ago. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ida Rachunis Skarnulis. Janet graduated from the former Newport Township High School with the class of 1958. Janet married the love of her life, Robert Domzalski, on August 21, 1960. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1969. While raising her family, Janet enjoyed working at Fashion Bug in the Hanover Mall, Dundee, where she made a multitude of friends throughout the years. Janet’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was an avid supporter of all her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities, never missing a sporting event, prom, or graduation until she physically was unable to do so. Janet was incredibly proud of all her family’s accomplishments and was known to often brag about them to whomever would listen. Janet was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish and previously the former St. Mary’s Church, Wanamie. In addition to her parents and husband, Robert, Janet was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah (her guardian angel) in 1968 and her sister, Loretta Donnell. Surviving are her daughters; Donna Wall and husband, Thomas, Nanticoke; Jodi Olenginski and husband, Dr. Jon, Mountain Top; and Ann “Bobbie” Higgs and fiancé, Lloyd Smith, Dallas; grandchildren; Jamie Kerestes and husband, Timothy; Tyler Wall and wife, Kaci; Nicholas Olenginski (Krista Oshinski); Ashlee Olenginski (Matthew Madry); Jordan Olenginski; Connor Olenginski; Morgan Higgs and Colin Higgs; great-grandchildren, Charleigh, Sullivan, and Scottlin Kerestes; Maya Olenginski; and Archer Wall; her sister-in-law’s, Patricia Piavis and Evelyn Domzalski, brother-in-law, Eugene Domzalski and wife, Arlene as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin 11:30 a.m. Friday from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wanamie. Family and friends may call for viewing and visitation at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until transferal to the church Friday. The family sincerely thanks the wonderful staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley and The Meadows in Dallas for their compassionate and loving care; Terri Fischer, her dedicated caregiver; and Dr. Mark Bernardi for his outstanding care and making Janet feel like a queen during her visits. A special thank you to Dr. Jon Olenginski, her son-in-law and primary care provider for a lifetime of laughter, compassion, and exceptional care.
