Obituary of Most Reverend Archbishop Thaddeus (Wallace) Condrick Metropolitan Primate

The Most Reverend Archbishop Thaddeus (Wallace) Condrick Metropolitan Primate, American Orthodox Catholic Church, age 88, of Hunlock Creek and formerly of New Jersey, fell asleep in the Lord Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at his home following a long period of declining health.
Born December 17, 1935 in Freeland, he was a son of the late Michael and Florence McFarland Condrick. He received his grammar school education at St. Mary’s Greek Catholic Parochial School and attended Freeland High School. Beginning in 1952, he entered the order of St. Basil the Great OSBM, Novitiate in Canada. He later transferred to the parish of St. Nicholas in Chicago, Illinois, during which time he held the position of substitute teacher in Religion, Sacristan and Vocational Director of the American Providence for the term of three years, completing five years monastic training.
He proudly served his country with the U. S. Navy for two enlistments and was honorably discharged with the rank of Hospital Corpsman in 1961.
He resided in New York City and later New Jersey for many years. In addition to his religious life was employed in security at the Port of Newark as well as being President of ABCO Enterprises, Inc. involved in restaurants and variety stores in Paterson and Carteret.
The Rev. Jude Thaddeus Wallace Condrick was ordained to the American Orthodox Catholic Church priesthood on April 25, 1976 and served the Monastery of the Holy Angels in Jersey City, New Jersey and later at St. Vladimir’s Monastery, Hunlock Creek. Bishop Thaddeus was elected and designated to be consecrate and elevated to the sacred episcopate on February 4th, 1989 at St. Vladimir’s Monastery.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother Nicholas, and brother, Michael Condrick.
Surviving is a brother, John Condrick, and his wife, Eleanor, Hazelton; sister; Helen Maso, and her husband, John, Freeland; several nieces and nephews; and his friend and caretaker for many years, Gabriel Garcia.
Requiem prayers will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 19th in the chapel of St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1594 South Main Street, Hanover Township.
Interment will follow the prayer service with military honors accorded by the U.S. Navy.
