Freddie D. Jackson, 68, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, of the Hanover Section of Nanticoke passed away on September 11th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments, a testament to the love and warmth he brought to those around him. Born on August 23, 1956 in Dunn, North Carolina, Freddie was the cherished son of the late Madie Beasley and Fred Weldon Jackson. He attended Dunn High School before proudly serving in the United States Air Force for seven years. He was an aircraft maintenance technician and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Freddie received the Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, with one bronze oak leaf cluster, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, with three bronze oak leaf clusters. Following his service, he relocated to Pennsylvania, where he worked at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center for 37 years, until retiring in 2011. Freddie was known for his zest for life, his ability to bring joy to those around him, and his infectious smile that could light up any room. His kindness and generosity were appreciated by all who knew him. Freddie had many passions and talents. He was a skilled handyman who could fix almost anything. He had a love for cars and trucks, attending many car shows over the years, he enjoyed shooting darts with friends and playing in dart leagues. He especially loved riding his motorcycle and was a proud member of Underground Heritage Motorcycle Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian Jackson. Freddie leaves behind his loving daughter and caregiver, Sara Jackson and her fiancé, Steve Kreitzer, Hanover Township; son, Freddie Dean Jackson Jr. and his wife, Jennifer; grandsons, Kyle and Luke, residing in Boyertown; former wife and close friend, Marilyn Dickinson, Hanover Township; and his beloved cat, Rocky. Freddie will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a funny, kind, and incredible man whose spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Freddie’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Geisinger Wyoming Valley who cared for him several times throughout his illness, and his oncologist, Dr. Gupta, for his care and compassion during his journey. A Memorial Service with military honors will be held 7:00 pm, Thursday September 19, at Dinelli Family Funeral Home 170 East Broad Street, Nanticoke, with Father Charles Warwick, officiating. Friends and Family may call for visitation Thursday, from 5:00 pm until the time of service.
