Antonio Louys, 87, of Nanticoke, formerly Hazleton, died on Thursday September 12, 2024 a patient at Lakewood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Sheatown.
Born in Haiti, he resided most of his life in the Dominican Republic where he was an educator and teacher. Living in Stamford Connecticut from 1979, he relocated to Hazleton from 1991 until 2020, when he came to Nanticoke to live with his daughter, Mayra.
In his earlier years Antonio loved playing soccer and was an avid fan his entire life. Since residing in Nanticoke, he attended church at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, the former Lena Bernadel, in 1998.
He will be deeply missed by his family. Surviving are his daughter, Mayra Castro, with whom he resided; sons, Romulo Louis, Seymour, CT, and Mario (Larry) Louys, Hazleton; grandchilren, Albaro Castro, Amanda Castro, Keisha Louis, Lena Castro and husband, Dany, and Ettiffany Pursley and husband, Vincent; great-grandchildren, Camila Castro, Alexander and Zander Rodriguez, and Lazarro and Nazarrio Pursley.
Funeral services will begin 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 20th from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St. Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Faustina Parish, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke.
Viewing and visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until transferal to the church.
