Francis S. “Frank” Wineski, Sr., 92, of Nanticoke, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke. He had been in declining health for the past 2 ½ years. Born and raised in Buttonwood section of Hanover Township, he was a son of the late Edward and Helen Baker Wineski. He graduated from Hanover Memorial High School. Frank married Florence Popeck on June 20, 1959 and together shared 65 years of marriage. Following their marriage, they resided and raised their family in Nanticoke. Early in life he was employed by Woodbury Manufacturing. For most of his working career, he was a landscaper with Green Valley Lanscaping and last employed by Dundee Gardens. He was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke, and previously St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, and was active and served as an usher for both churches. His favorite past time was playing the accordian, where found happiness sitting and playing on his front porch for the neighborhood, or at nursing homes for residents to enjoy. He also played the harmonica and guitar in his younger years, and loved spending time outdoors. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his son, Francis S. Jr., and a daughter, Loretta Opalski; a grandson, Christopher Szumilo; and a brother, Eddie Wineski. Surviving is his wife, Florence; daughters, Rita Szoke (Geoffrey), of Plains; Christine Luczak (Jeffrey) of Hunlock Creek; and Linda Szumilo (Frank), of Stafford, VA; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will begin Monday, at 10:30 a.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke. Interment with Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Viewing and visitation hours will be at the funeral home Monday from 8:30 a.m. until transferal to the church.
