Mary E. Morris, 91, formerly of Sheatown, passed away Tuesday, June 16th at Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing, formerly Little Flower Manor, where she resided for the past six years. She was born November 20, 1928 in West Nanticoke, a daughter of the late Raymond and Lydia Arnold Haas and was a graduate of the former Harter High School. Early in life Mary worked in the local garment industry. She and her sister, Millie owned and operated M & M Lunch on Main Street in Nanticoke and she was last employed by Heavenly Shoe Company, Hanover Township as a machine operator until retiring. Mary enjoyed gardening and will be remembered as the “Doll Lady” for her elaborate collection of hundreds of dolls and angels. She was a Methodist her entire life and last attended First United Methodist Church. She married William Morris, of Pottsville in 1978. He preceded her in death in 2002. She was also preceded by her husband, Frank Grevera in 1975; a brother, Frederick Haas and a sister, Mildred (Millie) Haas Machung. Surviving is her daughter, Linda Benson of Wilkes-Barre; a son, Robert Bowman of Tampa, FL; brother, Robert Haas and wife, Kay of North Carolina and nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 26th at 1 p.m. from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. Roger C. Noss, Jr., pastor of Mount Moriah United Methodist Charge, officiating. Viewing and period of visitation will be an hour prior to the service.
