Shirley L. Batogowski ,90, of Old Newport Street, Newport Center, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Guardian Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Sheatown. Born November 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Grace Belles Moyer. A life-long resident of Newport Township, she was employed by the former General Cigar Company, Nanticoke early in life and later was a certified child care provider at her home for many years. Shirley was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nanticoke her entire life and it’s WELCA group. She enjoyed doing volunteer work with her life-long friend, Bernie Macijczak. They volunteered countless hours at several organizations including: Mercy Health Care Center, later becoming Guardian Healthcare, Sheatown for a total of 27 years; the Foster Grandparent program at K.M. Smith Elementary School and American Legion Post # 350, Ladies Auxiliary where they were active members for many years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Suda in 1971 and Joseph Batogowski in 1997; a son-in-law, Robert Pauska and a brother, George Moyer. She will be missed by her son, Charles (Chuck) Suda, Newport Center, a daughter, Lori Pauska of Glen Lyon; grandsons, Robert, Brian and Michael Pauska; great granddaughter, Kelsey Pauska; a brother, Carl Moyer and wife, Esther of Shavertown; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Betty) Moyer of Wanamie and Jessie Suda of Indiana as well as three nieces and a nephew. Due to the current conditions, the family will have a private viewing and funeral service from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, Nanticoke with the Rev. Michele D. Kaufman, her pastor, officiating.
