Losing Barb Saxe is like losing a member of the Varker family
I first met Barb 70 plus years ago at a Sub-District meeting of a Methodist Youth Fellowship gathering of local church MYF groups. She from Nanticoke, I from the nearby Alden UMC (Later Newport)
We met again when she was appointed Pastor of the Alden Church.
Many times, she visited my father during the years he was in Wesley Village. We met again at Davis Funeral Home in Nanticoke with my father’s passing.
In 1999, we purchased a cottage at Patterson Grove. There was Barbara Saxe. We spent many years as part of the team that was gifted with the responsibility to keep the Grove vital. Her spiritual guidance and superb annual remembrance of those that passed on to Heaven will be forever remembered.
There are some people that my mind thinks will be around forever. Barb was one of those.
Lord, you are getting a “good one”
Barb, we’ll meet again.
Love and Support to your family.
The Ken Varker Family

Larry and Barb served Fairdale Charge early in their ministry. Both were instrumental in my recognizing God's call to ministry, as well as Jim Valentine also becoming a pastor. Thanks be to God. Well done good and faithful servants.

I knew the Saxe family very well. As a matter of fact, Rev. Larry baptized all six of us KIRCHER kids at one service in the Schultzville UMC. She’ll be greatly missed for living a life worthy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.. my sympathies

Barb was a woman of grit and determination, a deep abiding faith and an almost wicked sense of humor. It was my delight to serve along side her. If I remember correctly, the Lay Speakers Academy that met at Trucksville was one of her passions.

Barbara was a special person in my life beginning when her husband Larry and my late husband Doug went back and forth to Wesley Seminary together from 1960-1963 and Barbara and I kept the home fires burning with very young children. I admired her for all she did during that time and later, then becoming a pastor herself. My thoughts are with you, Leslie and John, knowing that in faith we find comfort and peace.
